What We Do

Our work helps children, parents, and those who support them deal with a range of issues-emotional, developmental, and societal.

We work in three major areas:

  • Creating programs and projects in a variety of media, including video, DVD, audio, CD-ROM, print, the Internet, and exhibits

  • Providing training and education for people who work with young children

  • Consulting and advocating on issues that affect children

Many of our projects are developed in collaboration with partners who have specialized knowledge about a subject.

While each project is one-of-a-kind-with its own purpose, content, style, media, and audience-in everything we do we strive to present concepts and facts as Fred Rogers always did: clearly, creatively, effectively, and with respect for children and adults at every stage of their development.

We invite you to explore our work. Because of its variety and scope, we've set it up to be accessed in several ways. We hope you'll find them convenient.

MISTER ROGERS' NEIGHBORHOOD, the flagship program of Family Communications, continues to air on PBS in a carefully planned cycle drawn from the 900 programs in our video library. We support the broadcast extensively-- with information and activities on this website and on our PBSKids website, personal appearances by Neighborhood staff, and more. Every day, letters and email confirm the treasured place the program holds in the lives of young viewers.
