FCI Privacy Policy

Family Communications, Inc. is a nonprofit company dedicated to children, their families, and those who support them. Through the production of materials in all media, we encourage open and honest communication. Respect for healthy emotional, social, and intellectual development is at the core of all that we do.

FCI is committed to protecting the privacy of everyone who communicates with us. This Privacy Policy documents the principles which have guided our communications for decades.

Generally:
FCI will not share the personal or private identifying information of our correspondents and customers with any outside party without prior consent.

Children & Students:
FCI is committed to safeguarding the identities and privacy of children and students, and we will not gather, publish or distribute any identifying information that may compromise young people's privacy or anonymity.

FCI voluntarily complies with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA).

FCI will not include images of or information from or about particular children in any publication without the informed consent of their parent(s) or guardian(s).

FCI will use only first names when making reference to children or young students, and FCI reserves the right to apply pseudonyms where appropriate to protect their identities.

Pictures used in FCI publications will not include information which facilitates the identification of particular children or students.

Under no circumstances will FCI make reference to the home addresses or locations of any children or students.

FCI will take care to avoid identifying schools and teachers with specific students in a manner that would facilitate the identification of those students.

FCI publications will be checked to assure that, in their entirety, they do not create "profiles" of particular children or students.

Use of FCI Materials by Others:
It is the policy of FCI to retain and police the copyrights to any of its materials that are used or published by others.

It is also the policy of FCI to include "non-assignment clauses" in our contracts. This ensures that people and organizations with whom we enter into contracts may not transfer their rights or obligations to others without the prior consent of FCI.

In all cases of third party involvement, FCI will use its best efforts to ensure the compliance of such third parties with this Privacy Policy.
