Mister Rogers' Neighborhood
July 10, 2010
Stomp!
Sit back and enjoy the energetic performers of STOMP! who will amaze and delight viewers of all ages as they make rhythms with hands, feet, buckets, brooms and rubber pipes. Woven all through the program are helpful messages about constructive ways to deal with angry feelings.

Description:
“What do you do with the mad that you feel?” That familiar – and important --Neighborhood song lets children know there are healthy ways to express angry feelings, maybe even by stomping! In this program, Mister Rogers takes viewers to a rehearsal of the off-Broadway performers of STOMP! who make amazing rhythmic percussion sounds with ordinary household things like brooms, pipes and pails. In the Neighborhood of Make-Believe, Lady Elaine has help from her friends in dealing with her feelings and is genuinely sorry for the problems she’s caused by her anger. But she understands that saying you’re sorry is just the first step and says she will try to do better things next time she’s angry.
Parenting tip: Make up rhythms with your child, by clapping and stomping. You can also let your child know that stomping is one way to express angry feelings – and doesn’t hurt anyone.
