Mister Rogers gets an immunization

Here’s some very real help for a very real concern of young children – getting an immunization.  In his typically reassuring way, Mister Rogers helps children know what to expect, inviting them to go along with him to the clinic where he gets an immunization and encourages them to play about it afterwards.

Description:
“I Like to Be Told” -- one of the most helpful Neighborhood songs – is illustrated in this program as Mister Rogers prepares children for getting an immunization.  He gets an immunization and talks about some feelings children have about going to the doctor and getting “shots.”  Playing with a doctor kit and a doll can help children manage those difficult times.  In Make-Believe, Daniel Tiger isn’t feeling brave, but his friends help him find courage to go back to his clock, stopping the cereal snow.

Parenting tip: Playing about giving “shots” to stuffed animals can help your child manage when it’s time to go for a “shot” at the doctor’s.
