Mister Rogers Website Wins Parents' Choice Gold
Our Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood website has been honored with the 2010 Parents' Choice Gold Award. The Parents' Choice Award recognizes the best in children’s media.
Here’s what their reviewers said about our site:
The essence of Mister Rogers, with his wisdom, ethics, and an innate sense truer than the north star of how children learn and when they're ready to learn it, is waiting patiently for 21st century children to visit his neighborhood.
Coloring pages, video clips, games and songs may all be standard fare for many of today's children's websites, but the creators of Mister Rogers' Neighborhood have kindly connected the dots and mapped a path for pre-school learning. (more here )
The not- for-profit Parents' Choice Awards panels of educators, scientists, performing artists, librarians, parents and kids identify the very best products for children of different ages and backgrounds, and of varied skill and interest levels. Their mission is to provide parents and caregivers with information to participate wisely in their children’s learning.
With the support of PBS, we relaunched our website last summer with all new illustrations, an infusion of video clips from the program, and a fully redesigned Neighborhood of Make-Believe. This interactive visit with “America’s Favorite Neighbor” introduces Mister Rogers to today’s children and families – both for those familiar with Mister Rogers – as well as for those meeting him for the very first time.
If you haven’t had a chance to visit, we hope you – and a child in your life – will. Go to www.pbskids.org/rogers.
We’re proud of this latest recognition of our continuing efforts to carry on Fred’s legacy. Thank you to Parents' Choice for their recognition of our work.
