Joanne Rogers Presents Mister Rogers Award

The Pennsylvania Public Television Network (PPTN) held its 4th Annual Neighborhood Awards Ceremony on Tuesday, March 10. PPTN President Sylvia Strobel noted that the awards were inspired by the life and work of Fred Rogers, creator and star of public TV’s Mister Rogers' Neighborhood and a nationally-recognized advocate of education, quality broadcasting and community involvement.

In presenting the Mister Rogers Award, Fred Rogers’ widow, Joanne, honored Jayne Adair’s lifelong support of public television, and her contributions and community service to the citizens of Pittsburgh. This award is the PA Public Television Network (PPTN) Commission’s highest honor.

Like Fred Rogers, Jayne Adair is a neighbor to the people of Pittsburgh, to Pennsylvanians and to people across the country. Through Jayne’s work in the both the commercial and public broadcasting industries, including her role as a Commissioner of PPTN, she has served as a role model, mentor and friend to her community and the Commonwealth. As the Executive Director of Pittsburgh Arts and Lectures and through her work with many organizations, including Carnegie Mellon, she has grown educational and cultural opportunities for the citizens of Pittsburgh and Western Pennsylvania.
