Mr. McFeely Presents Pennsylvania Governor's Award to Neighborhood Alum Michael Keaton

Actor Michael Keaton received the 2008 Distinguished Arts Award from Pennsylvania Governor Ed Rendell in Williamsport, Pa. in November. The award was part of the 28th annual Governor's Awards for the Arts. David Newell presented the award dressed as Mr. McFeely, in a gesture that celebrated Keaton's early work in the media. In the 1970s, Keaton worked as a production assistant for Mister Roger's Neighborhood. In 2004, he narrated the documentary Fred Rogers: America's Favorite Neighbor.
While many know Michael Keaton for his work in action and comedy films like "Batman," "Mr. Mom" and "Beetlejuice," Keaton is equally respected for his dramatic work in films like "Clean and Sober" and has performed Shakespeare (Much Ado About Nothing).

The annual awards are a tradition honoring outstanding Pennsylvania artists, arts organizations, and patrons who have made significant contributions to the advancement of the arts.
